Ghee Rice

Ghee rice is a delicious and aromatic rice dish that is popular in Indian cuisine. Here's a simple recipe to make ghee rice:

Ingredients:
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 4 cups water
- 4 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4-5 cloves
- 2-3 cardamom pods
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 medium-sized onion, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- Salt to taste
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:
1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for about 30 minutes, then drain and set aside.
2. In a large pot, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and bay leaf. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
3. Add the sliced onions to the pot and cook until they turn golden brown.
4. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another minute.
5. Add the drained rice to the pot and sauté for a couple of minutes, ensuring that the rice is well coated with the ghee and spices.
6. Pour in the water and season with salt. Bring the mixture to a boil.
7. Once the water starts boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and let the rice cook for about 15-20 minutes or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked through.
8. Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for another 5 minutes to allow the rice to steam.
9. Fluff the rice gently with a fork and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
10. Serve hot with your favorite curry or side dish.
